Two Interesting Cases Treated with Hypodermic Injections of Tartar Emetic

Shiwa Puhshad Singh, a Rajpoot, aged about 4o, was admitted into the hospital oil the 19th of March, 1870, with the usual symptoms of apoplexy?coma, deep stertorous breathing, pupils firmly contracted, pulse 120, strong full and throbbing, face bloated, indicative of kidney disease?old marks of cupping in the lumbar regions. He had evidently been drinking rather hard the previous day, and the apoplectic symptoms set in about the middle of the night with headache and restlessness. Had three epileptic fits since morning, lasting about two or three minutes each. Treatment.?Two dozen leeches to the temple, hypodermic injection of tartar emetic (|th of a grain); cold to the head, and turpentine and castor-oil enema. Vespere.?In much the same
